Leiden Translations !Version for solo improvising bassist (2014)!Discovered in Thebes in 1829 the 3rd century Leiden papyrus consists of 111 recipes describing alchemical processes of improving nature. This version is an arrangement of the solo bass part. The bass part is for improvising solo bassist; the notation is derived from alchemical notation, or sigils derived from the original set of alchemical recipes. This piece addresses the problems of translations both between cultures, languages, and across time.!Alistair Zaldua (December, 2015)
